Xmas gifts/Hamilton/PictCon1 (Perth)/Scarborough/AngusFest (Montrose)

Hello All,

This will be my final newsletter of the year, so can I be the first to wish you a Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year. Whether you had a good 2025 or a not-so-good 2025, I wish everyone a better ’26. By Jeepers I think we deserve it.

As this is a newsletter devoted to shameless plugs, let’s get back to business shall we. If you’re looking for Xmas ideas, why not consider sending one of my books and/or graphic novels to friends, family or pets (I’ve heard rabbits enjoy munching through them)? If you order through the Planet Jimbot shop on Etsy, I can sign it and add a dedication of your choice (Merry Xmas or Happy B’Day usually, but not always). I promise to put on my best writing. I can also post it direct to their mailing address. Just add the relevant info when ordering. Whatever part of the world you’re in, just type Planet Jimbot Etsy in your search engine and it should take you there.

I’m on the road a bit on November. Hope the weather holds up. In November, I’m down for Hamilton (Hamilton Comic Con), Perth (PictCon1), Scarborough (Scarborough Comic-Con) and Montrose (Angus BookFest, which includes a writer’s workshop), so maybe see you at one or two. Planet Jimbot/Spotlight on the Light/Travels in October/Leeds

This month I’ll be appearing at Leeds (details below). I do enjoy my journeys down south, the odd dodgy Airbnb experience aside (but that’s a story for later).

Next on the list of my books to talk about is the Light, where we have a global phenomenon where people wake up and know they are going to die. This affects everyone,  and society has had to shift from a mortal and spiritual perspective because on your last day you can’t be held accountable for what you do. So we have a new religion. We have a chain of hotels that offer rooms to accommodate your last day.

The novel switches between recurring characters with a mystery to solve on one hand and, on the other, we go around the world to show how the phenomenon has changed the way we live. So for example, the concept of war has become obsolete because people know they are going to die before they fight. To illustrate the fact the book has Argentina retake the Falkland Islands/Malvinas where the soldiers and civilians who would have died meet up at a cafe in Port Stanley and there is an awkward cultural exchange as they wait for the inevitable to happen.

the Light is inspired by the living who are obsessed with death. Here we have a last day where the concepts of both life and death coincide. This is a self-contained story. A work of speculative fiction and world building written by me. You can order the book on Amazon and Etsy in both digital and physical formats. Links to follow:
