Hope things are good. Spring is in the air. Yippee!
If you’ve been humming and hawing over picking up one of my books, then you might want to check them out on Goodreads, where readers post ratings and reviews. Also, if you’ve read one of the books and would like to post a rating/review and help other potential readers make a more informed choice, then that would be great. Good, bad or indifferent, feel free to tell the world (fingers crossed it’s the first one, though)
All these books are listed on my author’s page, alongside books published by the likes of DC, Marvel, 2000 AD, Black Library, and Metal Hurlant.
Meanwhile, I’m on my travels in March. The month will have barely begun and I’ll find myself in York. I’m then at Kirkcaldy and East Kilbride at the end of the month. Details to follow.

I hope 2026 is proving okay so far. At least that’s January done I’m a wee bit late to the party, but I have a strip in the 200AD Annual 2026. Heads up to Goodreads for letting me know. It’s a reprint of Pandora, originally published yonks ago in the Megazine. Nice to see the strip resurrected and in particular to see the art of John Hicklenton back out there.
My first Con of the year takes me to Middlesbrough and Teesside Comic-Con on Sunday 8th February. My second takes me to Dundee on Saturday 14th February. Maybe see you at one or the other, but probably not both. Details to follow.

This will be my final newsletter of the year, so can I be the first to wish you a Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year. Whether you had a good 2025 or a not-so-good 2025, I wish everyone a better ’26. By Jeepers I think we deserve it.
As this is a newsletter devoted to shameless plugs, let’s get back to business shall we. If you’re looking for Xmas ideas, why not consider sending one of my books and/or graphic novels to friends, family or pets (I’ve heard rabbits enjoy munching through them)? If you order through the Planet Jimbot shop on Etsy, I can sign it and add a dedication of your choice (Merry Xmas or Happy B’Day usually, but not always). I promise to put on my best writing. I can also post it direct to their mailing address. Just add the relevant info when ordering. Whatever part of the world you’re in, just type Planet Jimbot Etsy in your search engine and it should take you there.
I’m on the road a bit on November. Hope the weather holds up. In November, I’m down for Hamilton (Hamilton Comic Con), Perth (PictCon1), Scarborough (Scarborough Comic-Con) and Montrose (Angus BookFest, which includes a writer’s workshop), so maybe see you at one or two. You never know. Details to follow:

This month I’ll be appearing at Leeds (details below). I do enjoy my journeys down south, the odd dodgy Airbnb experience aside (but that’s a story for later).
Next on the list of my books to talk about is the Light, where we have a global phenomenon where people wake up and know they are going to die. This affects everyone, and society has had to shift from a mortal and spiritual perspective because on your last day you can’t be held accountable for what you do. So we have a new religion. We have a chain of hotels that offer rooms to accommodate your last day.
The novel switches between recurring characters with a mystery to solve on one hand and, on the other, we go around the world to show how the phenomenon has changed the way we live. So for example, the concept of war has become obsolete because people know they are going to die before they fight. To illustrate the fact the book has Argentina retake the Falkland Islands/Malvinas where the soldiers and civilians who would have died meet up at a cafe in Port Stanley and there is an awkward cultural exchange as they wait for the inevitable to happen.
the Light is inspired by the living who are obsessed with death. Here we have a last day where the concepts of both life and death coincide. This is a self-contained story. A work of speculative fiction and world building written by me. You can order the book on Amazon and Etsy in both digital and physical formats. Links to follow:
Another month, another newsletter. Over the next few emails, I thought maybe I should put my books in the spotlight. I sell most of my books through my appearances at Comic Cons (this month of September I’ll be paying Kirkcaldy, Dundee and East Kilbride a visit), but I sell a decent amount through various online outlets, notably Amazon and Etsy.
One of the books is GoodCopBadCop, a modern crime story with a twist on Jekyll and Hyde where the good cop and the bad cop are the same person. Basically, the good cop is very good and the bad cop is very bad The story is told in the first person allowing each conflicting personality to come to the fore and take over the page. I’ve had members of the police force and prison service tell me they’ve enjoyed the book. At the heart of it, cutting through the high-octane madness of it all, there is an authenticity to be had. Other people have called it refreshing and a different take on the crime genre. A real page turner. The book has a 4.6 rating on GoodReads.
But don’t take my word for it, you can order GoodCopBadCop, and the sequel Good Cop, on Amazon and Etsy in both digital and physical formats. I’m currently writing the third book Bad Cop at the moment and this should be out next year. Links to follow:
A month or so back, I was interviewed by Chloe Hill at Hull Unleashed Comic-Con. It’s had more than 300 views on youtube! Here’s the link if you’d like to increase the number to 310 or even 315. How many views do you need before it goes viral? 🙂
More August travelling, so see you at Cumbernauld and/or York. Details to follow:
Update: I’ve just found out that clingfilm (single life plastic) is no longer allowed in Loch Lomond, which is fair enough of course. So I’ll need to source some reusable substitutes. Mercifully I won’t go into details here 🙂
Hey there,
Loch Lomond Comic-Con is coming up, the largest outdoor event of the year (well, for me at least). It’s a weekend in the Trossachs in July, so of course the weather forecast reads thundery showers and light wind. This means I’ll need to take along clingfilm (to strategically wrap around my stall to try and keep the rain out) and a long pointy stick to dislodge any water that has gathered on the canvas roof. These are the survival skills required for an outdoor event in Scotland. Call me the comic con equivalent of Bear Grylls!
There should be some sun as well, and there’s always a great turnout, so hope to see you at Loch Lomond Shore on July 19 & 20. I’ll be in Perth the following Saturday as well, which is held inside the Dewars Centre, so the clingfilm and long pointy stick, thankfully, will not be required.
The graphic novels Gabriel (Jim Alexander, David Hill, Mick Trimble) & Savant (Jim Alexander, Will Pickering, Fin Cramb, Jim Campbell) are now available on Kindle. This includes Kindle Unlimited. Links to follow.

This follows Wolf Country, which had a time of it on the Amazon charts (Western Graphic Novels). It came in at Number 4, tucked in behind Jonah Hex and My Little Pony, but ahead of Scalped and Lucky Luke. It then climbed to Number 2 in the charts, only to lose top spot to Batman: The Dark Prince of Charming, which came out of nowhere as that particular character is want to do. Ah, well, you have to take these kind of things on the square chin.
You can find Wolf Country here:
Okey doke, what else is happening? I write a story for the new hardcover anthology from ComixTribe. It’s called OXYMORON: Killing Time and the book was launched (and fully funded) on its first day on Kickstarter. The story is called Man’s Inhumanity, which is my take on the football game between British and German soldiers which took place near the trenches of Ypres, France on Xmas day 1914. Art by Alex Diotto & Miguel Marques.
As I type, the Kickstarter campaign still has 10 days to go:
Lastly, I’m on my travels in October and will have tables at Fantasycon (held at The Queen at Chester Hotel), Dumfries, and Dundee. So maybe see you at one of those. Details to follow:
